Named 'Best '80s Band' nationwide, by Gigmasters
Yep, it's true. Gigmasters.com, the biggest and most popular online booking agent, named us "Best '80s Band" nationwide. We're blushing ... honestly. (Be sure to read the testimonials from brides and grooms in the margins of this page!)
Make your wedding fun and memorable
"The band was amazing. They really knew how to play a crowd. They had everyone at the wedding dancing their *sses off. GREAT JOB."

Imagine how much fun your wedding reception could be with an '80s band! And Airwave 80s is a fun, FUN band. We make a wedding reception exciting, unique and memorable, and we know how to smoothly coordinate ALL the facets of a wedding reception:
> The presenting of the bride and groom
> The wedding toasts
> The cutting of the cake
> The garter and bouquet tosses, etc.
> The fun dance party to end the evening that guests will be talking about for years to come ;-)
'Should I just hire a variety band?'
We've heard this one before. Some clients wonder if they should hire a regular wedding band or a DJ (um, you don't want a DJ) that covers everything from Sinatra to Nirvana to Johnny Cash. They worry how their guests will respond to a band playing only '80s music. DON'T WORRY. People of all ages absolutely LOVE the show that we do. The music is amazingly varied, it's nostalgic, and it's a total blast from beginning to end!
Also (important), don't forget that we usually DO play Sinatra, Dean Martin, Etta James, etc., through our sound system during the quiet part of the reception, such as when guests first arrive and are chatting and eating. We know when it's time to lay low, and when it's time to get people up and dancing.
Why is this Austin wedding band different?'
We know, we know ... EVERY wedding band says they are different. But we really do love playing weddings. They are by far our favorite type of event, because everyone is happy and laughing and we get to help make a memory that lasts forever. It's a huge responsibility, but we love it. And we take the responsibility very seriously because it's SO important to the bride and groom, the family and the friends.
We don't just show up, we work hard. We engage the crowd and get everyone involved and onto the dance floor. Also, we are happy to assist with emcee duties, making announcements, playing any special recorded music during the First Dance or garter toss, etc. We are all professional musicians and we are VERY easy to work with.
How to manage the 3 phases of a wedding reception
We know ... we know ... this is gonna sound like baloney. But, like the three acts in a play, receptions often have three distinct phases, and we know how to accommodate the energy of each one:
The beginning: This brief but important phase is where you have arrivals and perhaps a receiving line, requiring more subtle and reserved music. We can play any recorded music you prefer through our sound system. We also have some low-key '80s song; check the set list.
The middle: There is a meal, requiring light background or mood music (usually recorded music) so people can chat, catch up, and make toasts.
The big finish: Sometimes a lively and spirited dance-a-thon, and this is where we really make the evening memorable. Your guests go home smiling (and singing).
Got a special request?
We also know how to adjust our songs, and our breaks, on-the-fly to accommodate the varying tempos and moods of the evening. Want a slow song for some dancing cheek-to-cheek? Want us to crank it up? Want us to stay late to keep the party going? Want to hear that Journey song AGAIN?! (We get this request a lot :) It's YOUR CALL. On breaks, we even can play any style of recorded music, including any special requests.
And, if there are some '80s songs that are your favorites and you don't see them on our set list, just let us know and we'll learn them for you. Sheesh, we are SO easy to work with.
